San Francisco can feel claustrophobic at times. Perhaps, this sentiment may be shared among our green friends who also live in tight spaces.

The thought that this cactus will grow any taller makes me slightly uncomfortable.

These are amazing. I feel a book coming on—”Fifty Shades of Green,” perhaps?
More like “Fifty Square Inches of Space”
A book, please, Leslie!
Thanks, Georgia. These photos are by Megan Mock so you can ask her :) Actually Sara and I did make a prototype of a book back in 2009 but we ended up not producing it. And see our Exhibitions page for a small Herbarium book we did at our Berlin residency.
When I saw that first photo, I thought someone had built a little house for the top of the cactus. But now I see that the tip of the cactus is just reaching the box. Maybe that box is keeping the cactus from tipping over! Or maybe the cactus is giving that box little cactus kisses! Haha, that’s what I should call it when I kiss my wife or my baby with my stubbly beard–cactus kisses!

Oh dear! Oh wow!
Hi, Megan!
Leslie, do you follow Next Epoch Seed Library (Anne Percoco & Ellie Irons)?
Hi Georgia!
Oh wow! I’m following Next Epoch Seed Library now! Thanks for the recommendation! They do wonderful work. I’m so excited. :) I can’t wait to start collecting seeds to send in.
Hi Matt, I “checked out” a seed packet which I intend to keep as an art object. Glad you’re following them.
I didn’t know about Next Epoch Seed Library! How funny, their installation really reminds me of the Urban Plant Research centers that Sara and I have set up in the past.
Great minds…!
