If you are ever wandering the streets of Berlin, or another city for the matter, and find yourself wondering about the weeds and wild plants underfoot, you can now reach for this little book. During our residency in Berlin-Lichtenberg last year, Sara collected a herbarium of common wayside urban plants on our walks through the district.
At the end of the year, we were invited by Lichtenberg Studios to turn the herbarium into a book, with notes by me and Sara on what each plant is known for and how it can be used.
Lichtenberg Studios’ curator, Uwe Jonas, worked with us to produce the book as part of a series of resident artists’ books. Each year, he publishes several of these books, which are distributed free to the residents of Lichtenberg.
Here is a map of places where you can pick up this book and other Lichtenberg Studios artists books. Thank you, Uwe, Lichtenberg Studios, and the district of Lichtenberg for hosting us at the residency and supporting our investigation of urban plants!

oh, that does look very nice! i hope as a friedrichshainian i can get one, too. maybe i’ll just pretend to be from lichtenberg…
You can probably pick one up at the places on the map (see link above) although the map is old and the places may have changed a bit. You can also go to a Lichtenberg Studios event and ask Uwe for one. Contact them via their website to get on the event email list :)
