Lichtenbergerstr 34-37, Friedrichshain, Berlin
Another very big high rise with orderly balconies and orderly hedges along the bottoms of the facades. Only here, a long ponytail trailing down from a first-floor balcony leads the eye to a flowerbed, surely a guerilla garden.
A twiggy leafless tree, bright orange calendula, yellow zinnias and various other flowers and plants are bordered by upside-down white plastic bottles, saved from Actimel yogurt drinks.
Interesting that to care for this garden right in front of their own window, the tenants must have to walk around the whole building- there are no entrances on this side. But I am still quite sure that this secret flowerbed belongs to the people in the apartment behind it, and no one else.
