Berlin flashback: “Gurge” seedlings seen in 2008

While we’re on the topic of seedlings, and since it’s once again spring and planting time, here’s a photo of some seedlings I saw one year ago. It was at that time, the beginning of May 2008, that Sara and I started the Urban Plant Research project. This was one of the first entries in my logbook, made while Sara was still here on her Berlin visit.

Berlin: Fluff vine fence, Michaelkirchstr.

I made these notes and pictures quite awhile ago, but didn’t finish the roll of film until last week. It’s just been too cold for photographing, for me. But last week I shot a fair amount so there will be a few more posts coming up.

A sprawling, frothing, seeding, fluff-loaded vine-growth is hanging all over this stretch of sagging construction fence, looking just as if it was what pulled the fence down into the matted grass and weeds.
