On July 12, in the high noon sun, I caught sight of a plant living down below the street, underneath the subway grates at 9th Street and 6th Avenue.
For the past several months I’ve been shooting video “still lifes” of plants in the neighborhood. Hindered by technical difficulties, I had not been able to start posting them until now. (Please let me know if you have any troubles streaming the video – I am still not sure I got the settings right.) There is much more to come, going back through the seasons.
By the way, we’ve been getting some great submissions by our readers. Stay tuned for photos from Germany, Spain and Connecticut!
This is fantastic! Any skepticism I had about the value of filming plants had been chipped away at by 0:57. By 2:17 it was thoroughly shaken.
Thank you! I wasn’t entirely sure how Urban Plant Videos would be received, but I’ve been pretty into them. I think they are able to go further than photography in relating a sense of a plant’s perspective.
